Organization Background:

Tanzania Youth Alliance (TAYOA) is a registered non-profit organization that provides civic/human rights, entrepreneurship and HIV/AIDS education for the young people in Tanzania. It was registered in November 1997 under Trustees Ordinance (CAP 373) and Act No. 24 of 2002 with registration number 1497

Reports Directly to: Project Manager

Project: Timiza Malengo Project (Global Fund)

Locations: Morogoro (Ulanga DC, Morogoro MC, Malinyi DC, Ifakara DC and Kilombero DC) Dodoma (Chamwino DC, Kongwa DC, Mpwapwa DC, Kondoa DC and Kondoa TC)

Purpose of the job

The Project Officer will oversee the implementation of the program activities in their allocated region. The main objective is to provide project management and leadership at district level in the HIV and livelihood intervention towards Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Directs the intervention towards Adolescents Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
• Liaises with government officials at district level to ensure activities are implemented as per government guidelines and standards
• Conducts community based mobilization and link AGYWs to services.
• Ensures activities are implemented timeously and within budget
• Train peer educators in skills for initiating HIV risk-reduction messages with friends and acquaintances.
• Performs training on life skills and livelihood building for AGYW who are out of school.
• Supports all social and behavioral change communication (SBCC) intervention.
• Facilitates the planning of Social and behavioral Change communication (SBCC) Strategies.
• Operates text messaging interventions for SBCC.
• Regularly provides feedback and insights to HQ as scheduled
• Promotes National AIDS Helpline services 12. Other related tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Medicine, Medical Sciences, Education, Social Work or related fields of study.
• At least 2 years relevant working experience preferably in a NGO environment.
• Experience working with youth as an added advantage
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili both orally and written.
• Good and strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent IT skills especially Microsoft office package.
